The AICPA supports several scholarship programs for undergraduate and graduate students interested in careers in business and accounting. Listed below are descriptions of each program. Eligibility criteria and application forms are available online at http://www.aicpa.org/aec.
 Apply for a TSCPA Scholarship

In 2007, TSCPA awarded $135,000 in scholarships to deserving accounting students across the state.  The TSCPA Scholarship Committee will be selecting recipients for 2008 in June, so don’t miss your chance to apply!

Applicants must have completed introductory courses in accounting and/or be majoring in accounting.  You must be a U.S. citizen, legal resident of Tennessee and attending a Tennessee college or university as a full time student.

To apply, complete the application form, and submit it to TSCPA by June 1. Please be sure to fully complete the application, as incomplete applications will not be considered.

Once you began the hunt for a new job, you updated your résumé, took your suit to the cleaners, practiced your handshake and interviewed yourself in the mirror until your answers came out just right. You’re prepared for everything.

Except a reference check.

The Right People Can Help You Find Your Calling
By Caroline Levchuck, Yahoo Jobs, www.hotjobs.yahoo.com

It happened again: While you were plugging away at yet another project, Mindy from down the hall was promoted - just like Aaron was four weeks ago and Susan six months before that. You know your work is top-notch, so why aren't you climbing the ranks like your colleagues?

  Your Credit Card Strategy

A lot of credit card users fall into one of two camps: they either believe, with an almost anal-retentive obsession, that credit cards are for emergencies only; or they believe, with an equally anal-retentive obsession, in charging every purchase, right down to a stick of gum, to rack up rewards points and other goodies.

  Take Care Of Salary Questions

By Lee Miller, © 2007, Monster, www.careeradvice.monster.com

Once a prospective employer starts talking money, as in how much you currently earn, it's hard not to panic. And while it may seem like the only option is to simply answer the question, this is the time to choose your words carefully.

Students Log On To Manage Their Money

By Susan Johnson, © 2008, Young Money, www.youngmoney.com

It used to be that you had to go to an ATM or a bank teller to check your account balance. Then came online banking, which made it possible to check your balance or transfer money any time day or night. Now, several independent Web sites have taken money management a step further, adding features like text messaging, data merging and social networking. College students across the country are logging onto free money sites like Wesabe.com, Geezeo.com and Mint.com to monitor their money, swap tips  and more.
