Internships and Jobs: The Search is On

Internships

If you're still in school but looking to get some practical experience under your belt before graduating, an internship can be a great idea. You'll have an opportunity to see what working as a CPA is really like, and it can also be a great chance to do some networking. For many students, an internship can often lead to a job offer after graduation, so this is one experience you won't want to pass up.

To find an internship, visit the AICPA Internship Page, or visit a site like CareerBuilder.com or Monster.com.

Jobs

With diploma in hand, you're ready to enter the "real world." The job search isn't always an easy task - you'll need to be proactive and aggressive to find the one that's right for you. Check out the TSCPA Career Center at http://tncpa.careerbank.com/ or our TSCPA Job Listings at www.tscpa.com/publicinfo/classifieds.aspx for the most up-to-date listings. Ask you college professors if they know of any job openings, check with you parents' friends, former employers, mentors, anyone in the field of accounting who might be able to help you out. For more tips, check out our related articles below.

It's also a good idea to visit the Web sites of companies you're interested in working for. Often, they will have a link to the company's job openings. Listed below are several other Web sites you might find helpful in your search. These sites represent a partial collection and are not endorsed by the Tennessee Society of CPAs.
