2. Powering New Growth - Moving Tennessee to a Sustainable Economy

Since Governor Bredesen took office in 2003, the state of Tennessee has attracted more than $26.58 billion in new capital investment and seen the creation of more than 162,363 new job opportunities.Over the past 12 months, in this time of a national economic recession, ECD has announced three of the largest projects the state has experienced with the announcements of Volkswagen Group of America’s $1 billion automotive plant in Chattanooga in July 2008 and the announcements in December 2008 and March 2009 of two different $1 billion green energy projects: Hemlock Semiconductor in Clarksville and Wacker Chemie AG of Germany in Cleveland. We will explore how the state grows revenue through economic development and the range of new and improved tax incentives available to new and existing businesses that are investing and creating jobs in Tennessee.

9. Auditing Standards Update
Kevin L. James, CPA, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Audit standard setters have undertaken an ambitious agenda to shape the way audits are performed. This session will provide an update of current standard setting activities relevant to audit professionals. Content will include efforts of the Auditing Standards Board to enhance the clarity of its standards and converge with international standards as well as the PCAOB’s proposed suite of standards on the auditor’s assessment of risk and responses to that risk. |

Enroll soon because space is limited. Register by July 12 to pay the discounted registration fee. Registrations must be received seven days prior to the event in order to guarantee a seat and course materials. Allow approximately one week for receipt of confirmation.
Cancellations and Substitutions: Cancellations received by July 12 will be assessed a $30 administrative fee. Cancellations received between July 16 and July 22 will be subject to a cancellation fee of 50 percent of the program fee. No refunds are given on or after the date of the program. A $30 administrative fee will be assessed for all substitutions and transfers. Registrants may substitute another individual up to the day before the conference. TSCPA must be notified in advance to ensure proper CPE credit.
